When I first got my ped, I posted to someone whom I thought had a similar problem. It turned out the problem was with my moped's carburetor and not fuel line or air filter. They responded same day!

Thanks for posting this. I have numerous Honda scooters I have been repairing - Aero 80s, an Aero 50 and Spree so far. I have an Express II that is 100% intact but is just dirty (frozen brakes and cables) but the plastics are good, the seat looks brand new and the paint looks great. Less than 5000 miles on it. I could not find much info on the bike to start restoring/repairing it. This is EXACTLY what I need.
Tim! I'm glad I could be of some help. Where did you get your Express II? Yard sale, friend, craigslist.org? Just wondering.
That's great the Express is intact. If you need any parts, manual, or tips on performance tuning... you've found the right place.
Please feel free to post any comments you have about restoring the bike or any helpful information you find!
Thanks,

I actually have two. One yellow one I got from a motorcycle shop when I bought a handful of ragged out scooters for $200. That one is in rough condition.
The better one I got from a friend at work. He was cleaning out his barn and just gave it to me along with a Honda CT70 and a Kawasaki KZ1000 police motorcycle. The KZ was a basket case that I gave to my father in law and he traded it for some shotguns. The CT I intend to restore as well as it is in great shape as well apart from a frozen engine. I may be looking at an engine swap with that one.
this is going to be a huge help! i am in the process of having a 1978 express delivered to me down in nashville. my grandparents have had two scooters sitting in the barn collecting dust forever. i get the express, and my brother is getting the other, which is a 1977 JC Penny Pinto. can't wait to be able to contribute to the community!
I bought a Honda express moped, looks like an old one, it runs but has some restriction on when trying to make the scooter run faster. Could it be the carberator? Need to crank it about 10 times before it starts. Also need to know how I can find the year model. I bought it without a title.
Thanks, Ray
Hi JFK. First of all, many thanks for all the priceless info, it's a great resource! I've got a 1978 Express and it runs fine but it floods very quickly and gas runs out the air filter unit. I think the problem is the float, the rest of the carb seems fine. I can't find a whole carb for a '78 anywhere but the replacement floats seem to be easy enough to find and I was just wondering if you think this would be the problem and if so should I just buy the new float? Thanks again for the great site, Tom.
Buy a new float! It's bound to break eventually. If that's not it... move on to next thing. I had the same problem with gas coming out of my air filter too. It was only when I highly accelerating or running the ped straight out. Now that I upgraded my honda express nc50 from 49cc to 70cc, I don't seem to have that problem anymore. Try "kitting" your express with a DR Racing 70cc engine kit, you won't regret it!
Thanks for all the great info. I just bought a 1981 Express II off craigslist here in Nashville last week. It runs really strong (got up to 32 yesterday), but has a couple of small issues: the turn signals only flash a couple of times, and the brake cables could use some lube. Will probably clean the carb, too.
hi iam curt from wisconsin i have a 77 nc50 need carb help what other carbs interchange with the nc50 carb its a keihin carb # pao8baoh choke valve is seized iam new at this thanks
i tried to sign up to the expressly honda site and I haven't heard ANYthing in 2 weeks! I have a 1980 honda express that is running kinda sluggish and i have to mix gas and oil (fuel injector isn't working right :( ) so i need to get on the site, any help?
Hey Craftystuffs... yeah... the expressly honda site went under a LONG time ago. I am not exactly sure why either. I appeared very popular too. It sucks because it has some really good resources... like a "Electrical Fault Finding" document that others wanted too. :(
where did you get the 70cc top end kit?
I bought my 1982 Urban Express 2 days ago. It is great! One problem is only 1 of the four turn signals is flashing, but all light up. Will a new relay fix this?
Hi I have a 79 Express and i am trying to rebuild the carburetor, is it the same as on a 78 Honda Express? I can't find he parts list for the 79? any help?
Hi....I live in Australia and have a express-2 model.....it is almost complete but has a few issues of being stored for many years. my issue is finding parts as most of the parts come from UK or ebay or unavailable. I'm reading through your blog and pleased with content so far... Any help on parts suppliers for my Honda would gladly taken... cheers Mike..... r1mick77@gmail.com
